First there was Wolfenstein 3D. Then came Doom, Corridor 7, Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem 3D, Doom 2 and the Blood series. I grew up on the shooter genre and let me tell you, while the games listed above were great for the time, a game by the name of Half-Life revolutionized the shooting genre.

The shooting genre has seen the most success on the PC for the most part; my guess being that it is a lot more fun and accurate to aim with a mouse rather then a game controller. Lately, I did witness a shift in the shooting community; most of the new shooters being released are released first on the game consoles and several months later they get released for the PC. Some games don't even appear to get a PC release at all. Unless I'm mistaken, this is the case with the shooter Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard.

When I saw the game titled Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, I immediately had a flashback at Duke Nukem 3D and Blood 2. While they were meant as serious games for the time, both Duke Nukem 3D and Blood 2 had a certain comic and smart-ass appeal about them. One of my favorite lines from a video game is actually found in Blood 2; there is a part in the game where your character walks to a locked door and knocks. The intercom comes alive with a woman's voice: "Who is it?" said the woman. "Everybody dies!" "One sec, let me buzz you in." While that may not seem funny to you, that line is still popular with me and my friends. Sometimes I actually reply with "Everybody dies" when I ring a doorbell and I get asked who is it? Many times I get the "One sec, let me let you in" reply. Memories... Anyhow, getting back to Matt Hazard, when I saw that game, the box-art and the brief description I instantly knew that I had to try this game out. After the painful experience with Resident Evil 5 I need some humor in my video game life. Now how much humor will I find, and will it be good humor? This is the million dollar question. Let's find out together.
