A few days after the PC release of Fallout 3 I was done with my review for the game. I was tired and excited at the same time; in three days I had over 25 hours of gameplay as well as the written review. What was purely amazing was that after 25 hours of gameplay I barely scratched the game's surface. Fallout 3 has a lot to offer and I do mean a lot.
Fallout 3 offered gamers so much excitement and content that it was actually awarded the Role-Playing Game of 2008 at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, an award much deserved and anticipated. But as with all things, time starts catching up. It was only a matter of time before the wastelands of Washington DC lost their radiance. I remember how excited I was the first time that I stepped into Megaton. But now I look at Megaton as just the place where I can sell Radroach meat and buy shotgun shells (among many other commodities). Even creating new characters and exploring different paths has lost some of its charm. Let's face it: nothing lasts forever; not even the wastelands.
Bethesda Softworks takes great pride in their products and they do not disappoint their fans, so, when the first expansion pack to be released for Fallout 3, Fallout 3 - The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage hit the shelves I was madly searching for it. Game Stop gave me the wrong information once again; they said: "Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt is downloadable content only." Being overwhelmed with projects I postponed looking for the Fallout 3 expansion pack until I accidentally stumbled across a boxed copy at Best Buy. The twenty dollar expansion pack was soon my property and now I'm about to install it and see what Pittsburgh looks like after a nuclear holocaust. While The Pitt sounds pretty strait forward, Operation Anchorage sounds a bit tricky. Apparently, you "enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe - the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders." While that sounds like a lot of fun, it is the word 'simulation' that got my attention. Does it mean that since its only a simulation that I don't get to keep any of the loot that find? Do I get to at least keep my experience? Let's find out together.
