I've read and heard so much trash talk about EA in regard to Spore to the point that it killed all my enthusiasm to play the game.
Initially I wasn't looking at Spore as only a job and a review, but also as a game that might eventually end up as my favorite. I've had the game in my possession for weeks now, and the only reason I'm installing it right now is because it is getting towards the end of the month and I'm trying to wrap up this month's reviews.
Some of the talk that I've heard is that EA allows for only 3 Spore installations ever. Upgrading components on your computer such as the sound or the video card will supposedly cause you to have to reinstall; I don't like 50 dollar game rentals, and that what EA turned Spore into. After reading EA's license agreement for Spore I realized that I'm getting screwed. I did not understand all that mambo-jumbo lawyer talks, but I did realize that the limited installs were no joke. And here's the double catch: until you agree to the license agreement you can't install the product. Now, since the product is opened, you can't return it either. So you might as well accept the agreement and install the product or you're completely out fifty bucks. As long as you don't upgrade or as long as your computer doesn't crash Spore will be safe. Good luck after that. But as far as Spore is concerned, I think I can make it without having to swap video cards or without crashing long enough to review this game. If you just haven't heard yet, Spore is all about life and evolution and conquest. Welcome to Earth! And apparently if you can survive long enough, your glorious civilization, descendents of the ancient mighty spore, can expand through space and conquer the galaxy. |
