Well, I did it. I ordered a new release without even reading anything more besides the game's title.
Grand Ages - Rome was an impulse buy to me because I'm fascinated with the Roman culture. Recently, I just finished watching HBO's Rome and I've also been playing some Rome Total War.
After making the online purchase I decided to at least take a quick look at what I just ordered. It turns out that possibly as early as tomorrow I will be getting the sequel to Imperium Romanum. I played and reviewed Imperium Romanum a couple of years back and I liked the game. It wasn't really an RTS but more of a city builder with some fighting just to justify the building of military structures.
Now when a game changes names it just makes me stop and wonder... Why did Kalypso change game names? Was Imperium Romanum just too hard to pronounce? Did Imperium Romanum sell so poorly that Kalypso does not want to associate Grand Ages - Rome with Imerium Romanum at all? We shall see. Either or, Kalypso has made a very bold statement on the game box; they claim that Grand Ages - Rome is a 4x real-time strategy game (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate). I'm really curious how the 4x strategy will work with this game; if Grand Ages - Rome is anything like the prequel, I don't see the 4x strategy working well at all.
