Most of us imagined at one point or another what hell might be like. Snakes would be my version of hell; I'm absolutely terrified of them. But to members of the 101st Airborne during World War II snakes would have been a walk in the park.

If one is to count all the deaths (military and civilian) as a result of WWII the number would raise in the millions. Soldiers fought and solders died and I'm glad that Hollywood and the video game community come up with new WWII projects all the time because "those that don't know the history are bound to repeat it." Us, the younger generation, while our hearts may be sympathetic, we will truly never understand the pain that our ancestors went through to secure our freedoms. We get to watch the movies and we get to play the games because someone that we don't know and will never know bleed for such rights. Respect and honor is what those brave souls earned and games like Brothers in Arms - Hell's Highway, as much as they entertain us, they also help us remember our true heroes.

"Operation Market-Garden was a bid to destroy Nazi Germany before Christmas 1944. The plan was ambitious - it was the largest airborne invasion in the history of the world. They planed to capture a corridor throughout Holland to punch through the German lines. Paratroopers of the 101st Airborne and other divisions dropped from the sky in mid-September to seize and hold the corridor by surprise. The surprise attack was a bust. Hitler's best units were in the area and immediately countered-attacked and crushed the corridor. To the Allied paratroopers who fought there and lost brothers in arms, the corridor became known as Hell's Highway. It was the last great Nazi victory. It was Hell for Sgt. Baker and his squad" - Brothers in Arms - Hell's Highway manual. We will never understand their pain; at least we should hope that we won't. As for the game, a friend of mine called me ignorant for ignoring such a great title but that is a situation that I shall soon remedy. Is it truly a great game or is it a game that tires to bleed our dead heroes for a cheap buck? Let's find out.
