GRID was the last racing game to come across my computer. I like to consider myself a racing fan, with the bragging right that about one third of my video game collection is filled with racing titles. GRID was too much even for me; it was just tooooo realistic in both handling and damage.
The racing community needed a game like GRID; just because not everyone is a racing expert, it does not mean that the programmers should ignore that racing group, but for people like me, who enjoy realism but only to a certain degree, a new title such as GTR Evolution brings new hope to my heart and lessens my bank account by twenty dollars. Hmm… A twenty dollar racing game! But could it be any good?
The gaming community has been bombarded with higher and higher costs starting with the games and finishing with the overpriced accessories. So now, when a cheep new release hits the shelves, I honestly feel hesitant about picking it up. But not all cheap things have to be bad. Recently I reviewed a ten dollar card collection title, and although not the flashiest game made, it was more than worth the ten dollars. This might be the case with GTR Evolution. Maybe it is a flower amongst weeds, or maybe it is the weed poisoning the racing game genre. But for twenty bucks I’m willing to take a chance, install the game and see how fast I can take a ninety degree turn without flipping. See-ya at the finish line!
