4x strategy games can be defined by four simple words: eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate.
The 4x strategy games have come a long way since Sid Meier first introduced the concept in his legendary Civilization. I'm a very big fan of the genre and throughout the years I have played a good majority of games that claimed that they are 4x material, but most of them were lacking.
With each new release of the famous Civilization series the 4x genre expanded and grew more complex and Sid Meyer's competition was left far behind; all but one anyhow. And if Sid Meier is truly the master of the genre, then Stardock is a very good apprentice because Stardock's Galactic Civilizations series is another excellent 4x strategy game and recently Stardock released their latest bundle, Galactic Civilizations II - Ultimate Edition.
I have played Galactic Civilizations II and I have played the first expansion to the game, Dark Avatar, but I have not played the latest expansion pack, Twilight of the Arnor. Galactic Civilizations II along with the Dark Avatar expansion pack were excellent products thus I have very high hopes about what I will discover about Twilight of the Arnor. In this review I will focus on the whole game but I will emphasize the new changes that Twilight of the Arnor brings to the table. The tough decision now is who I should play as. Do I go with the humans? The aliens? I could of course create a brand new race and see what happens. One thing is certain: death to the opposition!!!
