I was lucky enough to get a nice package this week by way of the new D22W12 22" Widescreen monitor from the V7 group (Thanks). Like most LCD monitors the package arrived in a simple, but efficient black box that I unpacked immediately to see what it looked like. The box was packed well enough and there was no physical damage to the unit and everything needed was included in the box including a digital cable for VGA cards that accept that connection.

The monitor only needs the base and the power/DVI cables connected and you are up and going. The hookups for the cabling and power are located under the backside of the monitor and can be connected easily before attaching the base. All the controls are conveniently located on the front of the monitor for easy access and quick changes you may want to make to the contrast, color and so forth to customize your viewing environment. You have the options of Auto Adjust Clock, Phase, H Position, V Position and brightness as well as the options stated above.

You can if you so desire hook up the embedded speakers, but if you already have a set of stand-alone speakers it would behoove you to use them as the ones on the monitor are just plain weak. The base just pops on and is a no-brainer to attach so anyone should be able to accomplish this task. The monitor offers a very slight 20 Degree upward tilting, but no downward adjustment is available on the D22W12-N6 a factor that is common on many large sized monitors we have seen lately. A little better angle and swivel control would be nice, but it really is not that big of a deal in most cases anyways. The monitor has a native resolution of 1680X1050 (widescreen aspect) so make sure you have a video card that is able to support this resolution or the monitor will not function properly.
