Overclocking is getting easier than ever, and more and more users are finding that they want to try their hand at what used to be an art reserved for hardcore computer enthusiasts. In this article Benchmark Reviews tests the Patriot Gamer Series 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3-1600 dual-channel system memory kit, SKU PGS34G1600ELKA. Patriot designed this DDR3 kit to work with BEMPs (Black Edition Memory Profiles) that have been uploaded for use with the AMD Overdrive program in order to make overclocking even easier for the average enthusiast. This Patriot Gamer Series DDR3 RAM is designed to work in tandem with AMD Black Edition processors, but can be overclocked quite effectively in nearly any DDR3 compatible system. Priced at $130, the Patriot Gamer Series PC3-12800 DDR3-1600 kit represents a great opportunity for PC hardware enthusiasts to upgrade to low latency, high-performance memory at a very affordable price.

Today I'll be reviewing the SteelSeries 7G - a high end keyboard with a very high end price - around £100. To the average user, £100 for a keyboard seems excessive when you can get an 'el cheapo' one for £10 on the 'Bay, however, enthusiasts and hardcore gamers will know the difference between a £10 mouse and a £50 mouse - let's see if I can see such a distinction between the average budget keyboard I've become used to, and this gaming grade one I've been sent by SteelSeries.

Although Solid State Drives are all the rage lately, they comprise only a fraction of the overall desktop PC storage market. While SSDs are undeniably fast and enhance the overall user experience, they are also prohibitively expensive for many users and offer relatively low capacities. As such, traditional, spinning hard drives, with their huge capacities and low cost per gigabyte, still make up the lion's share of the market.

One of the more interesting hard drives to hit the scene recently is the Seagate Barracuda XT. Its 2TB capacity, 64MB of cache, and 7200 RPM spindle speed will automatically piqué the interest of many enthusiasts. But couple those features with the drive's support for SATA 6G and the story gets all the more interesting...

"The Intel Core i7-980X Desktop Processor Extreme Edition was found to exceed our exceed our initial expectations, which says a ton. Having six physical processing cores created an amazing user experience when running multi-threaded applications. The enormous growth of HD media content in the home is driving the demand for computer systems that have the horse power to deliver an enjoyable user experience for the consumer. If you have ever tried to create a Blu-ray movie or just tried to transcode some HD movies you know how much time it takes to work on a project and that can be frustrating for those that do it often. With the new Intel Core i7-980X Processor you can improve productivity, save power and the best part is that it can be a drop-in replacement for those with existing socket LGA1366 motherboard. Anybody that runs multi-thread applications is sure to appreciate a six-core processor..."

Most of the discussion surrounding the Radeon HD5830 video card has been about its performance relative to its two nearest neighbors in the ATI lineup. People are falling over backwards trying to get a fix on its which side of the fence the 5830 belongs: closer to the HD5770, or nearer to the HD5850. In Benchmark Reviews' recent evaluation of the HD5830, we compared it to a wide variety of video cards, including several that are not compatible with Microsoft's DirectX-11. Our DirectX-10 testing provided a level playing field for all the video cards, so we could make a fair comparison with older graphics cards that readers may currently be using, and the current models from NVIDIA that are limited to DX10. Still, gamers are itching to see how the new crop of cards would fare with DX11 enabled. So then, let's find out, shall we?

Noctua, being well known for their quiet, but very effective CPU coolers, knows how to build quiet and effective fans. Continuing the trend to larger and larger fans, Noctua’s latest fan is of 140mm dimension. The nice thing about this fan is that it has mounting holes for both 140mm and 120mm, so it is backwards compatible.

PowerColor has engineered a unique HD 5750. Their Go! Green Edition is completely fanless using a big passive heatsink, it also works without additional PCI-Express power connector, a configuration which limits the card to 75W maximum power draw. Considering that the AMD reference design requires 92W, PowerColor had quite a way to go. Did they succeed?

" Today for review I’ve got another product courtesy of our friends at Brando USB, it’s another USB 3.0 product but this one is a hard drive dock. Personally I like HDD docks quite a bit, they’re much more useful than enclosures because they’re so much easier to use. The one I have for review today though is from Unitek, and it’s your basic dock that can accommodate 3.5” or 2.5 hard drives, but of course it’s special because it’s USB 3.0 capable. So read on to learn more.. "
