Buying a new CPU is always exciting to me. For the average consumer, however, a X6800 and a E6700 is not going to be exciting at all. The problem is, most consumers use their computers for surfing the Net, watching some DVD movies and maybe playing a few games. Today’s most inexpensive computer can do most of that without even breaking a sweat.

Where the X6800 and E6700 shine however is when multiple applications run at the same time or when high-end gaming is required. H.264 decoding also requires a lot of computing power. Playing games on the x6800 and E6700 is wonderful especially when paired with a high-end video card like the 7900GTX or a X1900XTX class card. If you buy a motherboard with SLI or Crossfire capability, you can pair two video cards together and increase performance in games especially with a powerful CPU like the E6700 or X6800.
