Gigabyte’s DVD Dual GO-W1616a is an excellent burner and all-around DVD player. It actually sits in my primary gaming computer and is utilized whenever I need to burn a DVD. As a reviewer I see a lot of hardware come across my desk. Performance is inline with what I would expect from a 16x DVD-ROM. Dual-Layer DVD writers are becoming more and more prevalent. The ability to burn a DVD with 8.5GB of data instead of the 4.7GB discs nearly doubles the data that a disc can hold. If you’re looking for a DVD +/- RW, the Gigabyte drive is one I’d recommend. Negatives of the board include lack of DVD media in the bundle, the lack of a driver floppy for those using older Windows OS and the lack of online stores with the drive for sale. I searched Newegg, Pricewatch, and couldn’t find the drive for sale.
