We’ve
progressed a long way in storage and media technology from the first personal
computers. The first computer I ever used was a Atari X800XL using a tape drive
for storage, and with a grand total of 32KB of memory. Man that was a long time
ago. We’ve progressed to computers with multi-gigahertz computers with
massive hard disk drives and DVD drives that can store gigabytes of data.
Gigabyte is one of the biggest manufacturers of motherboards and video cards
in the world today. I prefer their products over some competitors for their
performance, quality and features. Gigabyte also makes other products including
motherboards, mini systems, LCD monitors, DVD drives, barebones computers and
various other computer components.
My first DVD drive was a Creative Labs Encore 2nd generation DVD drive a few
years ago. Since then, I’ve progressed to a 4X DVD-ROM, a 16X DVD-ROM,
a 4X DVD+RW, up to my current DVD 8X +/- RW drive and a 16X DVD drive to play
back movies. The product I’m reviewing today is their GIGABYTE DVD Dual
GO W1616A DVD +/- RW drive. So let’s see what the product is all about.
