The first thing that I want to bring to your attention is your computer's warranty (if you have one).

Some companies consider a warranty voided if the computer is opened up and especially if external hardware is added on. When it comes to the Linksys WMP300N Wireless Adapter, you are going to have to open your computer up in order to install the card.

If you don't feel comfortable in your skills to upgrade a computer you can always play it safe and take it somewhere like Best Buy and have them install the card for you. However, if you plan on doing the job yourself take your time, wear the static-free gloves and everything should be just fine.

The first thing that you're going to need is a free PCI slot to install the adapter in. The second step requires connecting the external antenna (an almost UFO like device). Oh... by the way, if you haven't figured this out already, DON'T work on your computer while it is turned on. Well, that just about covers the hardware part of this review. If you have a user-friendly case and enough room to easily maneuver, hooking up the Linksys WMP300N Wireless Adapter can be accomplished in around 5 minutes. It took me a little longer because I also used an air can to get every dust spec out of my tower as well. If your home gathers dust easily and especially if you have pets, getting the dust out of your tower should be routine, but that's another story; a friend's computer literally went up in flames because of too much dust.
