ASUS tends to provide wonderful bundles with their video cards, and the EN7950GT has a good bundle, with one minor exception. Most monitors sold today are of the Digital LCD type, requiring a DVI-I connection to run. There are quite a few analog CRT monitors still in use, however, necessitating an adapter when the card only has DVI ports. The EN7950GT has one adapter, which is understandable given the above. The PCI Express power cable is necessary for those that have a power supply without one. The HDTV Cable is used  in conjunction with a TV or HDTV.

Tom Clancy is one of my favorite authors of the military thriller novel. Four of his books including The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears, have made the transition from book to movie well. Many video games on his “ClancyVerse” have made it to the market including the various Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell games. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is the latest PC game to be released based upon his work. ASUS chose to include a full retail copy of the game with the bundle.

ASUS drivers have always had their own special branding. The EN7950GT requires the user to use the drivers off the Driver CD, as NVIDIA’s current 91.47 driver set doesn’t support this new card yet. ASUS’s SmartDoctor is their overclocking utility and monitoring utility. ASUS GameFace is their in-game IM service. ASUS Game Replay allows you to record gaming action into a MP4 player. ASUS’s GameLiveShow allows you to stream your gaming on the Internet. ASUS Video Security allows you to have home security video while you’re away.

NVIDIA has updated their Control Panel with the Forceware 91.xx series of drivers. The new CP uses a Vista-like interface, and is similar in look to the ATI CCC in some ways. The Adjust image with preview allows you to see what an effect like Anti-Aliasing or Anisotropic Filtering does to an image of NVIDIA’s spinning logo. NVIDIA allows the user to continue to use the old CP if they want.
