Morrowind was the first game to make extensive use of Pixel Shaders in 2001
when it was released for the Xbox and the PC. Known for the absolutely stunning
water and rain effects, Morrowind set the bar for computer graphics for the
DX8 generation.
Oblivion was released last week on the Xbox360 and the PC as well. To put it
simply, Oblivion is the most beautiful game available today. Playing Oblivion
on the 7900GT was a joy, with 1280X1024 32-bit with HDR enabled fully playable.
To go to a higher resolution, you will need a 7900GTX or an SLI set of these
bad boys.
The second game I’ve enjoyed recently was Empire at War. EAW is a RTS
(Real-Time Strategy) game with no peer, both land and space battles, a comprehensive
resource system and multiplayer, make this game a really fun and enjoyable game.
The 7900GT plays this game with 0 hiccups even with hundreds of units on the
screen at the same time
Serious Sam II is the included bundled game with the card. The game uses Pixel
and Vertex Shaders to good effect, with beautiful landscapes, water, and HDR
mixed in, Serious Sam is a good fit for the 7900GT and I’m glad GIGABYTE
decided to include it. The game played well on the 7900GT, with HDR making the
game beautifully lit and there were no observable slowdowns during game play,
even at a resolution of 1600X1200 pixels.
