Crysis is the standard by which most people judge video card performance. I would argue that Crysis while an excellent showcase of graphics card performance is getting kind of old. Performance on Crysis with all the settings turned to high was exemplary with 1920x1200 resolution totally playable on the game on the test system which has the fastest Intel chipset, memory and CPU in the QX9770.

Every game I threw at the card ran flawlessly with no errors as to visual fidelity or artifacts with the HD 4870 X2. HellGate London, a DirectX 10 game from Microsoft was totally playable with this card throughout the resolutions and settings available with the card (8x AA 16x AF). One thing to note is that the HD 4870 X2 is basically two 4870s running in Crossfire mode with an interconnect bridge that means that the already stellar performance of the HD 4870 is magnified with the X2. World of Warcraft is still on top of the PC sales charts. As a Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing game, WOW has a lot of players on at any given time. Graphics wise the game uses a 2D engine that hasn’t been updated in a while. One of the problems with a game like WoW is that it is designed for the lowest common denominator on the PC so more people can enjoy it. In any event the HD 4870 X2 plays WoW with no problems.
