Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare is the latest installment of the COD franchise. This game uses DirectX 9.0 features like Pixel Shader 3.0 and Vertex Shader 3.0. The game is fun, with Activision announcing the next installment coming later this year set in the Pacific Theater of Operations of World War II. COD4 plays extremely well on the 9600GT with framerates in excess of 60fps at 1920x1200 resolutions.

Crysis, the game by which every video card is judged these days, it seems like, is a video card killer. Few cards except for the high-end HD48xx series and GT200 series can play this game at full settings with AA and AF on at the higher resolutions. The 9600GT plays Crysis ok, with framerates of 20+ fps in the 1280x1024 resolution with High settings.

Unreal Tournament 3 is the latest game in the Unreal universe that has spawned three Unreals, three Unreal Tournaments and numerous games using the game engine. This game is DirectX 9.0 but the engine has applications for many other games including Gear of War and Gears of War 2, among many others. The game played well on the 9600GT with framerates exceeding 60 fps at 1920x1200 resolutions.
