Using their Patented Logitech MX™ Laser Engine  the company has made strides over the competition in this field and it shows in the MX1000 product. One thing that is also great is the ability of the MX laser mouse to work on any surface without the need of an additional mouse pad. Offering USB speed connectivity through a wireless RF environment is also a major factor in how well the mouse performs. Past generation technology was not up to part with the MX laser, and it is noticeable when using the mouse how fast its response times are, especially in gaming.

You get much better scroll control with the MX1000 Laser as the MX wheel tilts for side-to-side scrolling has a cruise control rocker for speed-scrolling up and down, and you can zoom with just an easy click of the mouse wheel. The Thumb Control buttons feature a universal page forward and back option, plus an application switch that quickly moves between open windows, which adds additional control over the mouse and makes it even more ergonomic. You can grip the mouse better as well due to its deep-sculpted thumb support for comfort, and outside finger grips for enhanced control.

Having a tracking ability that is 20X faster than the first generation optical mouse and using blue tooth connectivity are two of the main attractions of the MX1000 Laser mouse.  The mouse weighs an even six ounces and is about equal in weight to its predecessor the MX700, although much more comfortable in your hand. The unit offers a very fast rapid charger that can fully charge the mouse in under three hours. If that doesn’t sound fast to you, the previous generations took three times as long to charge and sometime took up to 12 hours to be fully recharged and ready to go. This was a major bummer for those with only one set of rechargeable batteries.

The charger for the MX1000 is much better than that of previous generations as well due to the fact that the mouse makes better contact with the base than the MX700 DID allowing for simpler recharging. There are three green LED indicators on the left hand side of the mouse which tell the user both when the mouse is fully charge and how much charge is left in the mouse for use. This can come in handy if you use your system a lot as it allows some degree of management when determining how-much juice you have left to work with. When the mouse is about to die you get an on-screen warning and the mouse LED turns bright red. The batteries for MX1000 are self contained and cannot be swapped out like their previous gen products could. The simple and best thing to do is to just store the mouse on the charger when it’s not in use and the problem of running out of power should dissipate that event entirely.
