While installing a system into this case was ultimately simple, there are a few snags to account for. Firstly, the explicitly poor build quality of some sections – such as door clips, and front panel boxes makes getting everything to stay together an absolute hell. Secondly, the cables for the forward headers are unreasonably short, making it damn near impossible to route them to the audio and 1394 headers on the SLI-D motherboard used. Thirdly, while the side fan is a nice addition, excessively tall sinks (in excess of 150mm) will run into severe problems, while others, such as the Big Typhoon, which is 125MM high, should have no issues. Past these three issues, though, installing everything into the case was made exceedingly simple, thanks to the motherboard tray, which will make my life infinity easy, especially when the Big Typhoon needs to come off – no more oddly angled screwdrivers and cramped hands for me! Perhaps the other gigantic godsend was the fact that for once, someone designing a case had a brain. I’m talking about the fact that rather than make us pine away plugging in 20 or 30 individual wires just to get Firewire/USB/audio working, they figured out that 95% of the users that have these cases will be using standardized motherboards, and as such, would appreciate a grand 10 seconds to plug all three headers in. This feature alone puts the 0508 far above any other generic case on the market today. Along with this, rather than making us read microscopic headers, the exact pinouts for every connection block comes on a little sheet inside the box in the case. Nice work looking out for the consumer guys.
