I can't say for sure if the matchmaking has been improved from the first version as they say, but I can say the matchmaking setup is very nice. The entire interface is easy to configure to find just the match you want.

I'd also like to mention that not all matches are just run off a player's home connection, as is the case with many LIVE games. There are actual dedicated servers in place for people to play on, which greatly improves match performance.

There's a Co-op mode, either in story mode or terrorist hunt mode. Both can be done online with friends or split screen. System link is even available for multiplayer modes, for those of you who have Xbox 360 LAN parties.

There's a few deathmatch modes, all the standards are here. You'll see some team deathmatch, some capture/hold the location type matches, but of them all there's one that stands out above the others, Team Leader.

There are two teams, and each team has one player flagged as the leader. The idea is for one team to get their leader to the extraction point before the other team kills the leader. As long as your team leader is alive, you can respawn. Kill the leader, then all you have to do is pick off the rest of the team to win.

The best part about thest multiplayer modes is the rate at which experience is gained. Not only do you get to play online against human opponents, but you can gain a quick experience boost. Killing team leaders, holding points, even simple things like using blind fire gain quite a bit of experience. You'll gain a ton more experience than just sitting there playing alone, so if you want those unlocks then go online.
