Survival Horror, Action Adventure, Platformer, Rpg, there are many types of games now-a-days, and even more if you count the millions of possible
combinations. It's an ever increasing thing to see games that have multiple play styles and most often that is a good thing it keep each level interesting
and fresh; but we might also consider that when you try spread your programming staff across three or four genres you can sacrifice quality on the one part
of the game you should focus on.
Vampire Rain is a genera bender. It takes a little bit of action adventure with a dash of stealth and a heap of survival horror on the side. Sounds cool I
know but if every element is not polished it can spell disaster. I myself hope for the best. Horror in games is well under used; however it's getting
better. More and more games are being produced with horror themes. As I sit here I can't help but think about all the games that came before like Silent
Hill, Resident Evil, and Doom, the successful use of horror as a tool can make a game riveting. Heck some of the greatest games of all times are horror
based.
I did some research and could only find a hand full of games that had Vampires as the main protagonist; and most of them are years and years old. I wander
why Vampires were abandon in games yet are featured so prominently in movies. Vampires are a ten on the Cool-Monster-O-Meter; right up there with zombies.
So why are they so shunned? The only reason I have come up with is completely unscientific. They are such powerful creatures that they are hard to put into
a game and make it playable; I mean a Vampire from lore could find you in any level and rip you into peaces before you even loaded your gun. Now that is not
that fun to play is it? Hopefully Artoon can make a Vampire game that is fun to play and will not make the Vampire so weak they aren't cool anymore.
