The graphics in this game are nothing short of amazing. Visually Bioshock is a real treat, and this is apparent from the moment the game starts. From the moment you first step foot
in the underwater utopia of Rapture, you will be drawn in by the visuals.
Rapture is a very dark place, seeing as it is on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, and not just dark as in low amounts of light. The atmosphere is one of chaos, evil, and untold
stories.
Splicers look like a plastic surgeon got drunk and went nuts on someone's face. Their body movement animations are all convincing, so even when characters are on screen the realism
of the world doesn't leave any. Something about the splicers, I mean aside from their faces, is creepy. Maybe it's that they all wear strange masks.
But nothing is quite as creepy as a Little Sister and her guardian, the Big Daddy. Little sisters spend their time going around and gathering Adam, the life force of the city of
Rapture. Bid Daddies are huge metal walking things that follow around Little Sisters and protect them.
You can hear a Big Daddy stomping up, or a little sister talking to him in that oh so weird voice they have. The controller will vibrate with every step, making the stomps feel all
the more intense.
You can also hear turrets and cameras when you come into their sight, giving you a chance to go dashing out of the way before you get attacked by one. If the camera sees you long
enough, and then an alarm will go off, this will make a loud alarm noise for the duration of the alarm.
The music is something I highly recommend leaving on, as you will be missing out on a huge part of the game experience if you choose to turn it off. Everything about the music
helps to define Rapture and helps to give the city life. Most of what you will be hearing is ambient music sounds off record players, but those happy-go-lucky tunes can make or
break the atmosphere of a game, and here they make it what it is.
