This game is one of those titles that isn't all looks, or all gameplay, but has a rounded combination of both to make it what it is. The gameplay, however, is phenomenal and will
constantly have you coming back for more. The night I got this game I must have stayed up till 5 or 6 A.M. drawn in by it.
You can attack one of two ways in Bioshock, weapon or plasmid. Plasmids are genetic modifications that allow you to do things like shoot electricity from your fingertips, or just
launch killer bees from within your veins to kill your opposition.
The weapons you get are all pretty fun to use, and all fit in with the overall feel of the game. Every weapon can be upgraded as well at a Power to the People station. Choose well,
there are only so many Power to the People stations available to you.
Plasmids don't stop at just offensive skills, either. There are many different plasmid lines that can help you with everything in your life; all you have to do is evolve with a
quick injection. One shot and you can do things like slow down the rate at which you can hack different machines, or change how long it takes a security camera to see you.
Hacking isn't always easy, but hacking a security bot can make it work for you, or hacking a vending machine will make items cheaper for you. Sometimes hacking a vending machine
will even unlock a new item if hacked.
Hacking reminds me a lot of the old Game Boy game Pipe Dream, though you might not remember it. A fluid comes out of one end of the pipe, and you have to uncover and swap out
pieces and direct the flow to the other end. There will be obstacles along the way on certain machines, either causing damage to you or setting off an alarm. Some pieces will
speed up or slow down the rate at which the fluid flows, so be careful what you use. All in all though, hacking can be a rewarding experience, if you hack the right thing.
