The graphics to this game are actually quite nice. At first glance I thought this was a lot like Assassin's Creed. As the game went on and I paid more attention, I started to notice many things that I have seen in other games and also a few I have not seen. By now most have seen games that will leave foot prints or gun shots etched into the environment.
One of the best features of this game was the "landing spot" for Alex. When falling from high distances, you can see the ground rushing up at you and can even rotate the camera as you hurl further down towards the city streets. As you land, your character takes a Matrix like stance and leaves a huge impression in the ground or rooftop you land on. This impression will remain for the longevity of the game as far as I can tell and the impression actually increases after falling a further distance or falling faster.
As for the never seen before, I have to be honest. I do not think I have seen a game that allows you to slice a character in half in what seems to be multiple ways. Depending on the angle of strike, the position of the character and the position of Alex, you can slice and dice people and Infected to your hearts delight. Each strike will cut at its own unique angle, allowing you to see the body slide of ala Resident Evil laser grids or watch as the character attacked goes to take a step and his top half of body stays in same place as the bottom moves forwarded. If you like this type of gore in your games, you will definitely like what Prototype has to offer.
Accompanying the graphical side of the game is a very tolerable and glitch-free audio experience. Each hit, landing, and gunshot is heard. The screams of the civilians as you run through the streets attacking Infected adds to the overall chaotic appearance of the city. The voice over work is well synched which if done poorly always affects the game. The overall sound quality is very good to great. I never had to go, why was that played? Or why did they give it that sound. All sounds are authentic and are well captured and implemented into this game.
