Virtua Tennis 2009 is a fun game to play if you want the look and feel of an arcade-style tennis game.

There is no detail or fine tuning. The game works well but it is very simplistic on every single level. It is almost impossible to not do well (unless you play online). I came close but I haven't won an online game yet.

The online interaction is probably the game's strongest point. In this game you can take your created tennis pro to online tournaments and ranked exhibitions where you can play other players from around the world. But if you're looking for detail and complexity, Virtua Tennis 2009 is not a game for you. Half (if not more) of the Xbox 360 controller buttons are not even used. In the near future, I'm going to have to take a close look at Top Spin 3. I've heard a lot of bitching about the complexity of that game's controller scheme but after the absurd simplicity of Virtua Tennis 2009, a complex game might be just what I need. Anyhow, if simple games appeal to you, Virtua Tennis 2009 would make a good purchase.
