You shoot, you score!

No, it really is not that easy, but it almost is. Finally, a game takes account of player ratings. Colby scores on just about every attempt (as it should be) and so do the rest of the NBA superstars.

First of all, I don't want to take credit from the defense. Playing good D always helps, but finally, a superstar is not shutout by simply getting in front of him. Timing is everything, and even more then in NBA 09 - The Inside, timing in this game is essential. While you can shutout Colby, odds are that you're not going to do it with your benchwarmer.

Unfortunately, most of the game is absolutely terrible. There are seven pages of controls and button combinations that you must learn to successfully compete in this game. There is no shot halo or any indicator to tell you how your shot will go. There is a ball movement control (activated by the right analogue stick that directs the direction of your ball once it is in midair; however, unless you use the action camera angle you can not take advantage of that option. Its impossible for you to judge where the shot is going unless you are right in front of the basket. The computer scores just about every time while you miss just about every time. At first I thought I had the difficulty rating too high, but after lowering it, the computer actually did even better (and I was using the same teams).

While 2KSports' NBA 2K9 does not have all the little side games that NBA 09 - The Inside had, this game focuses more on the actual game of basketball than any other NBA b-ball game. There is the traditional exhibition between two teams that you chose, there is the traditional season (played from the perspective of your favorite team) and there is the Association mode (aka. Franchise mode) that can take your ball team to new levels. Yes, you can set up a Situation Game, you can practice, you can have your season, etc., but you can't play b-ball pinball. The most terrible aspect of this game is the user interface. The menu controls are the worst that I've ever seen in any video game. This game has managed to get the lowest possible grade when it comes to learning curve: a 1. And on top of everything, 2K Sports has decide to let T-Mobile sponsor them thus you will get bombarded with T-Mobile advertisements throughout your entire gamin experience. Maybe if I had 6 to 8 months to practice and make flashcards so I can learn this game I might enjoy it, but as fur as I'm concerned, this game is an absolute dud. I really regret my PSP breaking and I really regret falling for the advertisement for this game. They suckered me in, but I hope that after reading this review you will not fall for the same advertisement campaign.
