If you are expecting 2K Sports to take you by the hand and tell you what the story is in their latest sporting title, think again.

This is a sporting game, and as most sports games go the only story that you are going to see is that build by your imagination and your skills on the field or in this game's case - the b-ball court.

If you don't know anything about basketball and don't have a favorite team then the storyline will seem nonexistent, but if you follow the sport closely then you know who the teams are, who their rivals are and what to expect from them this season. If you follow the sport you know the players and it hurts you just about as much when an injury takes place as it does them. No, there is no official storyline in this game; there are no movie files to tell you what to do next or who the bad guy is. But, this does not make NBA 2K9 story-less. Every shot you take on that basket shapes the story just a little bit. Every substitution that you make alters things. The story is there; you just have to create it.
