I have a feeling that I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but once again, I have to say that 007 - Quantum of Solace is outstanding from a gameplay and controls section as well.
This is not the first shooter that I played on the Xbox360, but it surely is the first shooter where I don't spend most of the time looking at either the sky or the ground a majority of the time. The controls were easy to use, even easier to learn and the result is a solid title from Activision.
One of the key features found in they 007 game is the combination between 1st and 3rd person perspectives. The cover system looks almost identical with the Rainbow Six - Vegas gameplay, but I think Activision did right everything that Ubisoft did wrong. Getting under cover is done with one simple button push (A). Holding A will cause Bond to make a mad dash for cover and shooting from cover is easier then ever before. You ca either shoot blindly in the direction of your enemies, or for a more accurate shot you can stick your head out of cover, take aim and deliver a deadly bullet to your target.
This game also has Bond doing some hand to hand combat as well as some crazy acrobatic moves, but once again, the game is very basic about how that is achieved. Sprinting towards an enemy will initialize hand to hand combat, and the button combinations that you have to deal with are very strait forward and easy to learn. For once there is no button mashing involved and I absolutely love it. Even keeping your balance on the acrobatic scenarios is very strait forward. You don't have to be an Xbox360 expert to enjoy this game and that makes it great. And, if the difficulty is not up to par with your skills, there are 4 levels of difficulty to chose from. Even sniping is done great. A popular feature dealing with today's standards when is comes to sniping in games is the ability to hold your breath for a more accurate shot, and this feature is present in this game as well. I am also grateful that the jumping is kept to a minimum. For all the "crazy" jumps that Bond has to make, once you initialize the jump with the appropriate button a movie animation takes care of the rest. The compass works great, thus is really hard if not impossible for Bond to get lost. Finding your next destination should not be hard at all, but getting to it without getting Bond killed is a different story altogether. I've had a blast playing through this game. I'm actually on the last mission and I have a very strong feeling that once I'm done with the game I will up the difficulty and give it another shot; or shots.
