The sound and the graphics are definitely in the same league as the storyline. As a matter of fact, the sound and the graphics help make the storyline what it is.
Activision did an outstanding job on the 007 Quantum of Solace sound and graphics. I shall cover the sound first. The first mission of the game is the prologue. The game thrusts you in the middle of the action but from the very fist lines of conversation I knew that Daniel Craig did the actual voice of Bond and that got my hopes up. Finally someone did not cheap out when it comes to hiring actors for a video game.
Once the prologue was completed, just as in all other James Bond movies, the credits were displayed. I was excited to confirm that Daniel Craig did indeed do the voice acting for the game, but he's not the only one. M is also present along with numerous other actors from the James Bond films. Those talented actors do not waste their voices in vain. With a well written script (or I should say a replication of the first two Bond films) the game's sounds are impeccable. And as a shooter, I should not fail to mention that the rest of the game's sounds are just as competent. The explosions, the gunfire, the sounds of machinery (cars, planes, trains, bulldozers, etc.) are all done just as well as the voice acting. This game is in fact one of the best sounding games that I've ever played.
I'm about to do something that I have never done before in a review; I'm going to talk about a graphics bug and afterwards I'm going to give this game a perfect score nevertheless.
First of all, I want to point out that with the exception of the minuscule flaw that I'm about to discuss, the graphics in 007 - Quantum of Solace are flawless. On the train mission, on the first passenger cart, a couple of the passengers were standing through their sits. Most people might not even notice that since that compartment is just transitory between you and the action and even if you do notice it you will not spend more than a couple of seconds looking that way, but it is my job as a reviewer to notice everything. The visual bug is so insignificant compared to the rest of the game that I will not deduct any points from the graphics, but if those couple of seconds bother you, just feel free to deduct a point from the final score.
Besides the train incident mentioned above, the rest of the graphics are superb. Quantum of Solace has it going on. The character renderings are magnificent. James Bond looks like a perfect rendering of Daniel Craig and the rest of the people are rendered excellently as well. The environment looks spectacular with Bond visiting many locations around the world, anywhere from a desolated cave in the middle of Bolivia to the beautifully rendered streets of Venice. About the worst looking location was the Miami International Airport, but no one in their right mind considers an airport a site to see. Another impressive factor to the environment and the character renderings is the rain/Bond effect. I think is the first time ever in a video game where a character's hair gets the wet look because of the rain. That impressed me very much. The environment is just as spectacular looking. The weapons that Bond runs across look amazing, and once Bond causes a big (or a small) explosion, the fire effects look beyond spectacular. The movie files are also great, just everything about this game's look is amazing with the exception of the train incident described at the beginning of this section (which in my opinion is irrelevant anyhow). Even the mission with Bond being poisoned has a superb look and feel to it. Simply put, this game looks great.
