Besides the storyline mode, in LEGO Indiana Jones, there is another game mode: freeplay.

How do you unlock the freeplay option? That's actually quite simple; all you have to do is complete the same level on the storyline mode. So all you players who want to create a brand new character and play through the game should be ecstatic (I'm one of those people).

Keep in mind that if 100% completion of a level is desired, the only way to achieve that is through freeplay. Unlike the storyline mode, freeplay is characterized by having four characters that you can switch between instead of only two. Personally, since I'm having fun remembering the movies and playing through the storyline mode, I'm not the biggest fan of the freeplay mode since it is a lot more tedious then the story mode where you pretty much can just run through. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad freeplay mode is there, but until I finish the three movies, I'm not playing the freeplay. The only reason I've even tried it was for the purpose of this review.
