When it
comes to both sound and graphics, Pro Evolution Soccer falls in the mediocre range.
Sound in this game is limited at best. I've gone through multiple games where the only commentary is made after a goal is scored. Not only is the lack of
commentary hurting the sound aspect of the game, but the commentators seem to have absolutely no excitement in their voice.
The
commentary in Pro Evolution Soccer is not the only negative aspect to the overall sound of the game. The sound effects are terrible, with the soccer ball
always sounding the same regardless of the type of ball or the amount of pressure used to kick it. Even the soundtrack to the game is lacking at best, but
the one positive aspect is the fact that you can import your own music into the game so you don't have to listen to theirs. The only true positive feature
to sound in Pro Evolution Soccer is the sound of the cheering crowds. That is the only authentic sound in the game.
The graphics in Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer have a balanced ratio between good and bad.
The best parts of the game's graphics, in all honesty, are the player graphics. When the camera zooms in on a player (usually after some kind of
spectacular event) the graphics look amazing. Individual players can be distinguished from one another, and they all look great.
On the flip side, everything else in regard to graphics is mediocre at best. The game does not include weather effects, and the option that is supposed to
turn snow on is broken; this is actually the 2nd encounter with a broken feature of this game; penalty shot mode being the first. The field does not
include wear and tear or any weather effects period. Even the stadiums look poorly rendered, as for the people in the stands, I don't even want to comment
about their quality (it's not good).
