Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 offers a vast variety of content when it comes to the single player mode (there is no multiplayer).
CUP MODE offers the player the ability to play as one of the many available teams or countries in one of several official cup tournaments. LEAGUE MODE
allows you select your favorite team and participate in a season.
WORLD TOUR MODE is for the players who like to be told what to do. In this mode a variety of specific challenges must be completed by the player. For
example, one of the challenges is to win a match by at least two goals.
MATCH mode actually offers three modes of play: EXHIBITION, QUICK START and PENALTIES. As the name implies, quick start throws you right in the middle of
the action, exhibition mode is almost identical to quick start but a few more options are available, and penalty mode does not work (is unplayable for the
most part).
The feature
that I found the most impressive in Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 was the MASTER LEAGUE MODE. In mater league mode you can select one of the many preexisting
teams and start your soccer career. If you are in a creative mood, you can always design a brand new team from scratch. There, you are responsible for
everything, including player selection and uniform design. As the seasons roll by, your players progress or regress depending on performance and eventually
retire. It is up to you to keep your team in top shape. I hate to say this, but the master league feature is the only reason why I would recommend this
game. Every other feature is lacking at best.
