The reason that sound will not get a perfect score is because the game's graphics were so great that it would not be fair to the graphics if the sound was
placed on the same level.
As the later Final Fantasy games have shown, Squaresoft, now Square Enix has taken great pride in providing a great ensemble of visual and audio content in
their products. Everything in regard to sound is for the most part perfect; the voice acting, the battle sounds, ambient world sounds and especially the
music.
As mentioned earlier, all aspects of the sound are perfect; however, there is a problem. For all I know it might just be my personal taste, but it seemed
that from time to time the music was out of synch. By that I don't mean that the timing was off or the speech did not go with the video. It just seemed
that sometimes when I would expect slow music they would hit me with something fast, and the opposite. It did not happen often, but, if I have to complain
about something when it comes to sound, that would be it.
So ... if you're like me and crave eye candy, Final Fantasy Crisis Core is definitely a game to check out. Square Enix did an excellent job of feeding us
more beauty as the game went along. The introductory video is a quick trip through parts of the game. While in itself great, the introductory movie is
nothing compared with the rest of the game.
Feeding our addiction, the game offers more just at the right moment; or so it seems. Just when things get redundant enough something new and exciting
happens. A new character is introduced, or a summon, or just an interesting part of the storyline brings about a great movie.
Final Fantasy Crisis Core reveals itself through the eyes Zack, 1st Class Soldier. While cartoonish, the characters are excellently rendered. To match the
greatness of the characters, the movie files add a new perspective to the game. Even when controlling the character, the game offers a great assortment of
beauty. Even the art of spell-casting is stunningly displayed.
The game's greatest strength in the visual department is the excellent transition between the telling of the story and the gameplay. The success of the
gameplay can surely be debated, but the smoothness of the graphics and the transition between the action, the story, the sound and the graphics can not be
debated. Final Fantasy Crisis Core is by far the most visually stunning game released on the PSP (in my opinion). There is one negative comment associated
with the graphics that I must make; being a role playing game, the character has to go up in levels. Gaining levels takes time, and eventually the graphics,
while still beautiful, start being redundant.
