We're all a little nuts, right? Well, let's just say that James Grayson has a very valid reason for being jut a tad "weird". Not only did Grayson endure the pain of having to burry his own brother, but he had to endure that pain knowing that he's the one who put the bullet in his brother's head.

At some point during the Chimera invasion, Grayson's brother was turned into something that no human should be, a Cloven. The Cloven are an almost zombie like creature converted by the Chimera. It is better to be dead than a Cloven. And that's how James Grayson snapped. After his brother's death he defected the army but not because he was scared of fighting or a traitor. The army was just not nearly as determined or as efficient at blowing up Chimera conversion centers. By the time he was captured, tried and sentenced to execution for treason, Grayson was responsible for blowing up 26 Chimera conversion centers.

But what condemned him, also saved him. Since he was solely responsible for the destruction of 26 conversion centers, Grayson became the world's number one expert thus the Marquis (the French Army) managed to pull some strings and had Grayson relocated under their command. Grayson is very excited but not because he won't be executed, he could care less about his own life; he's just excited because he gets to keep on killing Chimera. Killing Chimera has become the only goal in Grayson's life; it is the only thing that he still give him pleasure and throughout this game, Grayson gets to kill an abundance of Chimera. Grayson is still haunted by memories of the past and Raine Bouchard, a scientist with the Marquis, forces Grayson to once again relive the pain of losing someone. The storyline in Resistance Retribution is a very solid one and it is also well delivered. Also, I would strongly recommend sitting through the credits after you beat the game. What you get at the end is worth the wait; all I'm going to say is that it adds a new twist to the story.
