Will this game be popular enough for them to make a B-Boy 2? What about a B-Boy 3? The reason why I am asking that is because the speculation about the above question can almost answer the question about the quality of the sound and graphics alone.
B-Boy should not be classified as only a gaming experiment but as a social experiment as well. Have we moved along the social ladder where break dancing is part of our every day entertainment? B-Boy sure tries to make things appear this way. But I was not really that impressed with the game's sound. For starters, the menu music, if it could talk it would have said "I'm lame and I'm a sound from the 80s." I found it very disappointing actually that a game that's supposed to be about the beat had such disappointing menu sounds. As for the actual dancing music, it is not bad but it seems to just be old-fashioned. As I've said, I'm not too up-to-date with the break dancing scene, but it seems that the music in this game has a rather "classic" beat to it.
From a character creation perspective I was both impressed and disappointed with the game's graphics. What Impressed me was the ability to somewhat design my character. Character height, skin color, hair style and color and even clothing are things that you can change while creating your character. What was disappointing was the lack of diversity when it came to those changes and the quality of the graphics to enjoy others. For example, you can edit your eye color but due to the game's graphics it is impossible to tell what that color is by just looking at your character. As for the rest of the graphics, they are rather simplistic but they are done well. The dancing animations look great; they are both smooth in animation and have a realistic look to them. The dancing areas also look great (not that they have much to offer). Unlike many games where the background changes constantly, think of this game as a "ring game." You have a designated area where you do your moves and the background stays for the most part consistent. Unless you really are a big fan of the break dancing community you will probably not find this game to be visually stimulating.
