I might be able to come up with a couple of excuses for this game when it comes to its graphics, but even if I was tone-deaf I don't think that I could come up with anything that would be able to justify the sound in Dungeon Maker 2 - The Hidden War.

The thing that got to me the most in this game was the lack of music diversity. This is a pretty slow moving game and since it is so slow moving the two or three background instrumental songs that the game offers will get old very fast. Last night for instance, I was actually having fun playing through my dungeon when I just could not take the sound anymore and turned the game off.

As for the rest of the sounds in the game they are about average when it comes to hack-n-slash games on the PSP. There is sounds of clashing weapons; magic spells have their own sounds as well. Another thing that I want to mention is the lack of voice acting. The way that this game is designed there is absolutely no need for voice acting whatsoever but if you care about deep and well acted storyline with famous actors doing the voices then this is not a game for you.

Sadly enough, when it comes to the graphics, the biggest problem that I have with the game is that the main character could be Harry Potter's twin. Believe it or not you have no idea how disappointed I am because of the lack of visual character customization. Another somewhat disappointing factor to the game is the fact that you can not angle walls and rooms when you design your dungeon thus everything you place has 90 degree angles. The lack of curved and angled textures reminded me of the map layouts of the original Wolvenstein 3D, but here's where I'm going to make an excuse for the game. Since the PSP is not the most powerful system out there I can see why the programmers limited their engine to just placing right angles. As you advance through the game and complete missions new items are unlocked for your use. While new weapons and armor is always welcomed, the most rewarding things that you can unlock from a visual perspective is new rooms, new corridors and new textures for both. While your character can equip new armor that changes his looks, because of the PSP's size and the zoomed out camera angle of the game, it makes it rather hard for the player to really notice the detail of the new looks.
