Buzz Master Quiz did an outstanding job when it comes to the sound, but in the graphics department it is barely adequate.
First of all, just in case you missed the earlier paragraphs, let me recap by saying that Buzz Master Quiz is a trivia game. Over 5000 questions from 8 categories will keep you busy for a long time. While this game can be enjoyed by a wide variety of people, the game’s extreme cartoonish graphics will almost certainly deter many adults from purchasing it. Although the game itself is good, the game’s graphics made it very difficult for me to take the game seriously. I felt like I was quizzed by a puppet. But once you get past the cartoon look of the game everything else falls into place. The graphics (from the cartoonish perspective) are done remarkably well; the only problem is accepting the cartoon look.
As for the sound, Buzz Master Quiz has done a perfect job. There are two characters that actually speak in the game, one being Buzz and the other being Greg, the question asker. While Buzz has some sort of a British accent and has a weird sense of humor and makes what he thinks are funny comments all the time, Greg is the serious one. In a very calm and clear voice Greg asks us the questions. With Greg asking the questions and Buzz hosting, Sony has managed to create the ultimate PSP game show experience (at least when it comes to the sound). The two seem to be in perfect harmony with each other and the game, and although there are only two characters that speak in the entire game, any more would have been overwhelming. As for the music, for the most part it sounds identical with the background sounds found on the TV game shows. As I’ve said, when it comes to the sound in Buzz Master Quiz, Sony has done a great job. Too bad I can’t say the same about the graphics.
