For fans of Strategy games, the name Sid Meier is synonymous with great games. Just about any fan of the strategy genre has played at least one game with his name somewhere in the credits.

He is perhaps most well known for the Civilization series. Those who (somehow) don't recognize his name in relation to that series will no doubt recognize his other famous series, 'Pirates!'

Both these game series have seen several sequel releases and spin-off games. His most notable games include titles such as Alpha Centauri, which was perhaps one of the most in depth games to ever hold his name. Another famous game made under his game studios is Colonization, which is actually being remade as an official modification for Civilization 4.

Not only have official spin-offs been made, but these games also seem to set standards for the genre, and even have been redone as freeware by certain gamers. Games such as FreeCiv and FreeCol enable players to have as close to an authentic Sid Meier experience as one can without actually buying the official game itself.

But what about those gamers who are without a PC to play this great series? What is left for them to play? Well, Sid Meier has answered this question with the newly released Civilization Revolution. Not only has the series been rebuilt from the ground up to accommodate console controls, but Sid Meier himself sat down and got his hands a bit dirty helping to code this game. For those of you who are curious as to just how well the Civilization series adapts to console play, please read on, as there will be much enlightenment on this subject in the pages to follow.
