The reason that I combined single and multiplayer in the same section is because Sins of a Solar Empire uses the same maps for both modes of play.

To save everyone some time I am only going to talk about the single player mode. For multiplayer just substitute some or all the AI characters for other people. I also want to mention that multiplayer mode supports up to ten players via LAN or Internet.

Sins of a Solar Empire features three races; all different in look, behavior and technology tree, with the only thing in common being their thirst for galactic conquest. First of all, the game comes with four sets of maps according to size; small, medium, large. Each set of maps has a certain number of scenarios to choose from or a randomly generated map according to the size of the current selected set.

So far I have only talked only about three of the four sets of maps. No, I did not forget about the fourth set, I just wanted to dedicate an entire paragraph to it. Just in case you don't happen to like any of the designed scenarios or random maps, you can always create you own in the map editor. I did not have a lot of time or desire to mess around with the map editor (I like the scenarios), but I did try it out just to see if it works. The created maps are the fourth map choice. Once the map is selected, it's time to choose an alien race, select the opponents and start. For more information on gaming features please refer to the gameplay and controls section.
