NBA Realtime Fantasy
NBA Realtime Fantasy

If you're one of many men and women out there who loves sports and has access to a computer, then chances are you've heard of Fantasy Leagues. You might have even played in a few.

Fantasy Leagues allow you to pick your own team, and then follow the individual player's statistics throughout the season. Usually this is updated at the end of a game, or at the end of a day. If your star player gets injured 3 minutes in, you can't swap him out to save your score.

AirPlay.com and NBA.com are bringing a change to how you play fantasy sports altogether. They are even taking it a step beyond the office betting pool and offering the opportunity to win items such as a gift card, iPod, or even sought after Nintendo Wii console.

The main event going on right now at Airplay, and one that I suggest any sports fan gets in on quickly, is the NBA Realtime Fantasy. Realtime Fantasy is a new concept that will hopefully catch on. If your star gets injured, simply go to your roster, swap him out, and 30 seconds later your roster is updated and the game goes on.

You'll be able to select your favorite stars for your roster, such as Kobe Bryant, LeBron James or Kevin Garnett, and watch your team's stats update with every basket made. Airplay has taken this fantasy thing to a whole new level, even getting themselves listed on the NBA website to help draw attention to a new way to play.

Worried that you won't be at your computer when something happens and you need a roster change? Well you're in luck, as Airplay will let you access your team from a mobile phone, allowing you to play on the go with your busy lifestyle.

Not only can you play your game in real time, but communicate with other fans as well. A built in chat feature allows people to trash talk opponents, keeping in the true spirit of the games being played. I mean because really, what's a game between friends without a bit of trash talk being thrown around? It's even better if it can be done real time as the game happens.

At Airplay's website you'll find a full list of dates, times, and teams for all of the games, leading up to the All Star Game on Sunday February 17. But don't jut abandon Airplay when the NBA All Star is done, as there is a ton more to do.

You can play fantasy real time versions of both Pro and College Football, Poker, Deal or No Deal, even the Emmy Awards. As time goes on, expect to see more offered by Airplay.com, perhaps in the way of more games and prizes. What will come is still unsure, but what is for sure is that this website has finally breathed a breath of fresh air into the stagnant world of Fantasy Leagues.

If you get the chance between now and the All Star Game, I'd say take the time to head on over to Airplay and register. Registration is free, quick, and painless, and will have you on your way to gaming in real time in almost no time at all. Get a feel for the games themselves while watching your favorite game on TV as you modify your roster. Basically take time to get ready for the NBA All Star Game, so when Sunday comes you're ready to join in and take your team to the top!
