At first glance, in all honesty, my very 1st impression of the game was around the BLAH impression.
But this is not only a job, is an adventure, so I kept on playing on and kept on reviewing and the more I played the more I understood the saying
"Don't judge a book by its cover."
Activision is one of my favorite producers mainly because Activision does not cut corners. Activision is more about putting out a great game instead
of making a buck from some clueless consumer. And this is the case with Spiderman - Friend or Foe. Once I accepted the fact that the game is not
meant for my age-group, everything else was smooth sailing.
Playing this game with a keyboard is doable, but I honestly do not see the point of torturing yourself like that. Go invest in some kid of game-pad.
If you are not going to use it in this game, there are probably dozens upon dozens of titles that also depend upon them. If you have two game-pads
this game becomes a multiplayer delight. With two game-pads, 2 friends can battle each other or join up to take down one of the many ferocious
hologram monsters.
The punches, kicks, swings, power-ups, web attacks and combo moves work to perfection. Spiderman - Friend or Foe does an amazing job at catering to
a variety of players, anywhere from the easy mode where button-mashing does the trick to hard mode, where the player has to focus on his attacks and
moves in order to survive more then just a few seconds. The game itself is very arcadish in both gameplay and look, but the more I play it the more
it grows on me. As a matter of fact, I can't put the game down. I finally maxed out Spiderman, and now I'm working on Doc Ock. That dude rocks!
If I have to complain about one thing, and since I'm a reviewer I have to, I would have to say that sometimes your character just happens to fall or
get thrown off a ledge a bit to easily. But to remedy that problem, Activision gave us unlimited lives.
