Surprisingly enough, Spiderman - Friend or Foe has a really decent soundtrack. The music goes really well with the action on the screen adding to
the suspense, mystery or action filled sequences of the game.
The voices were also done well, even though the script the actors had to read was made for 10 year olds. It almost seems that Activision went to
great lengths to ensure that this game will in fact be kid friendly. One thing that kind of got to me was the fact that just about every time a BIG
fight came up, Spiderman always says: "My spider sense is tingling."
Well, Spiderman's tingling senses are going off left and right with all the action in this game, and to go along with the music is an array of sounds
of punches, kicks, special moves, special abilities and explosions. The sound mixes smoothly; as a matter of fact, is one of the few games that I
didn't bother to ALT-TAB on and get some of my favorite MP3s going in the background. And to top it all off, the sound and the graphics go hand in
hand.
I wish I could make the next phrase flash like an electronic billboard advertisement: MADE FOR KIDS!
Because Spiderman - Friend or Foe is made for children, the graphics are simple and cartoonish. Just because this is a kid's game and the graphics
are cartoonish, that does not necessarily make them bad.
As a matter of fact, Spiderman - Friend or Foe has amazing graphics. They are just not the realistic graphics that Activision has blessed us with
recently. They follow the comic book mentality and style founded by Marvel. Once I've accepted the cartoon look, I was simply mesmerized.
Every character is beautifully rendered and uniquely equipped. Short ranged attacks, long range attacks, specials, web attacks, grapple attacks,
just about everything in this game looks impeccable. The only couple of things that bugged me was the Captain America dude (he was not rendered well
at all) and the tailed superheroes (and that's because I could not take them seriously). Even the menu looks great. It is simple to navigate with
solid graphics.
