Company of Heroes - Opposing Fronts
offers two campaigns (German & British), a skirmish mode, multiplayer mode, and save the princess mode. Ok, I'm kidding about the last one. It does however have a tutorial for all
the newcomers.
The two campaign modes are basically training for multiplayer or skirmish mode (whichever you prefer). If you eventually plan on playing against others vs. LAN or the NET, then I'd
strongly suggest exploring the maps during skirmish mode first. Internet players are evil.
Skirmish Mode
In skirmish mode you pick the map, select your side and pick the opposition. Depending on the size of the map, you can have allies or you can give the enemy some or both.
Two modes are available in skirmish
mode: annihilate, where you have to destroy the enemy down to the last man, building or asset. If you want a faster and a more fast-paced game, turn to the Victory Points mode of
the action.
In the Victory Points mode several key points are located on the map, and the side that controls the most for the longest time wins. The Victory Points Mode may sounds simple
enough, but trust me the enemy is desperate and throws all they have at you here.
The skirmish maps are the same as the multiplayer maps so if you plan on playing against others you may want to consider exploring the terrain and developing a basic strategy before
facing the minds of others. Me, I wasn't that bright and lost my first multiplayer match in 6 minutes flat.
