There are, however, some positives about WiC. It has one of the finest graphics engines I've ever seen in a strategy game. Having just put a new gaming rig together I was anxious to crank the settings up and I wasn't disappointed. Mortars spin trails of smoke behind them before smashing into targets, producing some of the best looking explosions and volumetric smoke to date. Another standout feature of the game is that the whole environment is destructible. I love seeing a fleet of tanks rolls through suburbia and trees falling in real time, hit and crushing cars and buildings. Buildings explode and crumble with amazing realism, and large explosions will fill your screen with bright lights and beautiful flames. If control is where the game fumbles, graphics is where it shines.

The sound is also outstanding in WiC. I mainly play the game through a Logitech Precision PC Gaming Headset, because my speakers will otherwise aggravate my neighbors. Sounds ring clear and echo off in the distance. Ambient gunfire and explosion keep you feeling like you're actually in the middle of a battle. The sound is one of the few great aspects of this game, and to play it without volume is truly to rob yourself of part of the experience.
