Space has fascinated mankind from the very beginning of our existence, and the power of today's graphic cards and computers aloud programmers to fascinate us with some amazing space and alien creations.
Halo focused on the "space shooter" angle, RTSs such as Hegemonia- Legions of Iron did a beautiful job of bringing colonization of planets, an economy and of course wars in a harmonious, futuristic, in-space RTS, Galactic Civilizations brought by far the most complex turn base space strategy game out and Freespace...
Freespace and Freespace 2 are a true space simulator game. They are extremely complex, and for being almost 10 years old they still look sharp by today's standards. Freespace is so complex that you can actually target individual weaponry and systems on enemy ships. The game was hard on easy, but to anyone into SCI-FI and flight-sims it was a jewel.
SpaceForce: Rogue Universe by Provox Games finally gives a chance to space junkies like me to dust off that joystick, charge my battery levels, set my shields to low and use all that reserve energy to blast dozens of evil aliens and space pirates that I may encounter. But let's see if SpaceForce: Rogue Universe is all that it claims to be, or just another lame space duck. |
