Armed Assault is a great game for single-player fun, yet it’s the multiplayer that made Operation Flashpoint a success, and most likely will make this game a big hit as well. Most of my friends have this great title, yet all of us spend 90% of the time in the editor and multiplayer missions, rather than the single player part of the game.

In all honesty I look at the single-player missions as time spent training for multiplayer missions. This is not because the single player part of the game sucks, it’s just because the multiplayer part is really that much better. There’s nothing like fighting your friends without actually fighting your friends.

Of course you don’t have to fight your friends if you don’t want to. Choose to be on the same side, and take to the enemy lines in a much welcomed co-op mode. Here you and your friends, (possibly me if it’s an internet game) can discuss and attempt the strategies needed for a victory.

Armed Assault gives us the option to play one of the 3 armed factions involved or just be a civilian. Civilians don’t start out with guns, but you can always pick a weapon up from a fallen soldier and join in the fight for YOUR side.
