Ancient Wars: Sparta is not a bad game, but is not a great one either. The game is about mediocre when it comes to RTSs. It has some original ideas such as the way cavalry is done, but overall is just another RTS.

For the hardcore RTSer, the game will mostly revolve around the “all your goldmines are belong to us” strategy, for whoever controls the mines has a noticeable advantage. When this game gets put on the $20 shelf it’s time to buy it, but not before or you’ll feel like you wasted your cash. Don’t get me wrong, I like the game, I just don’t think it’s worth the $40 that most stores ask for.
