Ancient Wars: Sparta offers us 3 factions that we can play as: the Spartans, the Egyptians, and the Persians. Each faction has a unique look to it in both graphics and play (kind-of). For instance all 3 races have for the most part the same buildings, each with the representative faction’s names. Just to help yall out I’ll actually post the faction and their corresponding buildings below.

Sparta:

Economic buildings:

Acropolis – produces the Greek workers and heroes.
Farm – your source of food – takes 3 workers.
Granary – allows for more food storage.
Goldmine – lets you mine the precious metal.
Storehouse – lets you store wood and gold.
Forge – is where you research new weapon technology.
Workshop – is where you research the actual weapons.
Gymnasium – takes care of support units and new armor technologies.
Oracle – is where your healers come from.

Military Buildings:

Barracks – takes care of your melee units.
Training camp – is where your long range units come from.
Arena – outfits troops with stationary bows, combat ladders etc.
Stables – produces horses (not cavalry); just about any troop can mount a horse.
Dock – takes care of the naval needs of your faction.
Machine Shop – is where vehicles and siege weapons are produced.

Other:

Walls – wood/stone.
Traps – stake/stone.

A note on the Spartans: out of the 3 factions, the Spartans have the cheapest cost of buildings and troop production, however they lack the technological tree that the Egyptians and the Persians have. Their heroes are probably the strongest out the 3 factions and they both can mount. The Spartans are a well balanced faction with great potential.

Persia:

Economic Buildings:

Tachara – main Persian building, produces workers and the Persian heroes.
Sheepfold – the Persian food source.
Healer’s Hut – speaks for itself.
Gold Refinery – the goldmine for the Persians.
Armory – the place to research new weapons and shields.
Smelting Furnaces – where new technologies are researched.
Drafting Room – the building that allows for the research of naval ships and battling rams.

Military Buildings:

War School – trains melee warriors.
Shooting Range – trains ranged troops.
Warfare House – trains ladder people, stationary bows and shields.
Stud – is the Persian building that trains horses.
Camel Pinfold – upgrades to War Animal Farm – builds camels and war elephants.
Persian Hall – Trains battle priests and endurance training for your warriors.

Other:

Fire Altar – boosts nearby friendly unit battle skills.
Walls – wood/stone.
Traps – spike/stone.
Ballista – siege weapon that requires wood for each shot.

A note on the Persians: the Persians should have had the honor to hold the name of the game instead of the Spartans. They are by far the most complex, complicated and fun factions to play out of the available choices. They seem to be pretty weak at the start of a skirmish, but if you can keep them going they finish strong. The Persians also tend to run out of food often so keep that in mind as well.

Egypt:

Economic Buildings:

Pharaoh’s House – the main building for the Egyptians.
Gold Sifter – Egyptian goldmine.
Oasis – the Egyptian farm.
Food Storage – speaks for itself.
Wood Storage – stores all that wood.
Weapon House – research weapons and shields.
House of Knowledge – research new technologies.

Military Buildings:

Barracks – place that makes melee troops.
Shooting Range – is where your long range soldiers come from.
Assault Camp – research new technologies.
Siege Workshop – research new weapons and shields.
Temple – is where your healers are trained.

Other:

Traps – Spike/Stone.
Walls – wood/stone.
Obelisk – unique Egyptian building that slows down enemy invasions.

A note on the Egyptians: playing the Egyptians is quite fun. They are the most expensive faction to run, but in the same sense you pay for quality. They start out stronger than the others, and if they are played right you can quickly cripple the other factions’ economies. On a different note, unlike the Persians they do much better with the food production, but they require a lot of gold to run efficiently.
