In the world of Tom Clancy, the cookie cutter is king. No, seriously – after reading about 30 of his novels over time, you come to realize something – from one military thriller to the next; they’re all the same bloody thing. Nevertheless, to the chase we must cut. Today’s story focuses on a treaty gone majorly wrong. During a summit between the three North American nations, where NAJSA is being signed – the North American Joint Security Agreement, things take a turn for the worse when Mexican rebels, riding under the leadership of a certain Mr. Ontiveros. During his assault on the meeting, the Canadian Prime Minister is Iced (something much to the grumbling of this Canadian), putting the Mexican and American presidents on the run. And thus, so it will be left to the Ghost Recon squad to help mop up the mess, put down the insurgents, and with an endless supply of expendable soldiers besides you (one Captain Scott. Mitchell), you’ll basically be saving what’s all too often tasked as the “Free World”. Whoop-de-freaking doo. While the story does provide a realistic backdrop for the events to transpire, the fact that it’s just so tired and old lead us to wonder why it just hasn’t been shot yet – why for years on end, the same idea’s been dragged through the dirt. This tired old story is then told through a combination of in game news feeds, briefing and de-briefing, as well as the good old walking into situations that you probably shouldn’t have – we’re thankful that at least the delivery was something to be excited over.
