Character creation in the game is a combination of the Race+Class+Skills/Attributes.
The Race choice gives a wide variety of advantages or disadvantages. The character
I chose was the High Elf. The advantages of the Dark Elf include a resistance
to Fire, Summon Ancestral Guardian, with bonuses for Athletics, Blade, Blunt,
Destruction, Light Armor, Marksman and Mysticism. The High Elf is the spellcaster
of the Elf family, with magic its specialty.
The Imperial
is a normal human character. If you want to play a lizard, you can play as an
Argonian. A Redguard player is an excellent fighter template. The Orc class
is the best at skills for the melee fighter, with the Nord race being the best
pure fighter race. The Wood Elf is good for a stealth fighter. The Breton race
is the best defensive spellcaster. The last race is the Khajiit class, a good
thief class.
Birth Signs gives the character a variety of Skills and Attributes according
to the sign you were born on. My character was born under the Ritual, as the
advantage of healing 200 points a day in the middle of a battle essentially
gives you a free “life”. In the early part of the game, the Mara’s
Gift can save your bacon against stronger opponents. Other skill sets include
one for the Mage, one for the Thief, one for the Warrior and more, each with
specialty skills. You can add skills and train skills in the game as you go
along, as you progress through each level, you are given the choice to improve
your attributes.
